Revival

When Nehemiah arrived in Jerusalem he found broken lives. The people had ignored God and the laws. They had been stubborn, rebellious, grumbling people. Nehemiah gathered the people to hear Ezra read God’s word. Listening to the word of God they began to experience revival.

Nehemiah 8:2-3 NIV

“So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand. He read it aloud from daybreak till noon….. and all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law”

Reading the study notes in my Bible pertaining to this chapter, I reflected on those who have heard and followed the word of God and yet through the journey of life have either forgotten or turned away from God by being immune to His teachings or disillusioned through circumstances.

Let’s pray this week that we slow down and examine our hearts and thoughts. Question our journey, return to God’s word and study the scriptures asking ourselves “how does this apply to my life”.

In these especially challenging times, let’s pray for those to return to their faith. Pray for those who do not know God that they would hear about Him and seek.

If you are looking for a group to pray and examine the Scriptures please join our Zoom prayer group. We meet Monday mornings at 9:30am and Thursday evening at 7:00pm. Email the church office for details (churchoffice@hopedalechurch.ca)
