Generosity…

Generosity…

What does God say about being generous?  Are you generous to other as well as being able to accept generosity from others?  There is always an opportunity for us to be generous with our time as well as our finance towards others.

The most beneficial way to be generous is to fulfill a need of others.  Often we help others because we know them and have had an opportunity to hear about their need. Then there are times when a need is for someone we don’t know.  By being in a community (whether a mom and tot group, support groups or church group) we could have opportunity to see a need.  When we as a community share these needs there will always be someone who can offer a helping hand.

A single mother is moving and may need help cleaning and possibly a vehicle to facilitate the move.  New parents, exhausted, will appreciate a helping hand to make a meal, finish their laundry and maybe just an encouraging word.   The senior sitting in a park watching children play possibly wishing for someone to chat with.  A smile and a nod goes a long way.  Stopping and taking time for others is one of the most generous things we can do.

There is an abundance of ways to be generous towards others and for our community.  Generosity is not limited to giving our money.  Our deeds have incredible impact in our lives as well as those we extend our hand to.

Sharing our financial rewards is also a necessary way of being generous.  Helping someone struggling financially will go a long way to lift them up.  Financially supporting our churches is crucial to their mission in the community by reaching seniors, youth and families and sharing God’s word.  Our givings must always be provided with a cheerful willing heart.

Caring and sharing extends love to others and sows a good heart in us.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:11

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

1 Timothy 6:18-19

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.  In this way they will lay up treasures for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

May you daily look for an opportunity to bless others by giving generously in the ways you are able.   Our good deeds whatever they may be will be rewarded abundantly.

Blessings,
