Gratitude…

May was a month of spectacular sunshine, blue skies and early spring.  The sunny weather uplifted spirits, warmed our souls as the green grass, beautiful flowers and sunshine filled our days.  Families were out together laughing, riding bikes, walking in parks and being vitalized by an early spring and promises of a beautiful summer season.

When I think of this early spring and all it brought, I am incredibly grateful.  May delivered the start of summer and as we enter June we can be grateful for a bonus month of amazing weather.

A reminder to us that in the midst of chaos and uncertainty especially as we waded through the COVID pandemic it is crucial to express gratitude.

Gratitude for changes that bring goodness.

Gratitude for lessons through the tougher times.

Gratitude when we rise above strife.

Gratitude for the simple things.

There is great power in gratitude.  So much power through the recent trend of gratitude journals has emerged.  People have been expressing the difference journaling has made in their lives.  Expressing gratitude will change our attitude and bring peace and fill our thoughts with joy.  Today open your Bible and search the scriptures for Gratitude verses.  Read your study notes if they are in your Bible.  Meditate on Gratitude in God’s word.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”

Colossians 3:15

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.  And be thankful”

Psalm 107:1

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”

I have often thought of starting a gratitude journal.   This evening as I head to bed and take some quiet time, I am going to make my first entry into my gratitude journal.  Let me encourage you today to begin and end your day with gratitude.  Gratitude for the little things and those larger-than-life things.  Let’s see how our thoughts and attitude immediately change this week when gratitude begins and ends each day.

Blessings….
